XVA Hotel

Show Map

Arguably the city's first boutique hotel, this old coral stone, quaint courtyard hotel is decorated with simple dark wood and mother-of-pearl inlaid furnishings, stable door windows, billowy white drapes, white washed walls and four-poster beds. Enjoy the breezy rooftop and solace of the cool, shaded courtyard. There is also a gallery, café and shop selling jewellery, art and crafts. Serene sweet and simple, situated in the Al Fahidi Neighborhood, formerly named Al Bastakiya (Dubai's oldest area and a former prominent trader's settlement). A location oozing with charm it's an ideal spot for a staycation and for tourists wanting to experience Dubai a world away from the large 5 star complex hotels. The former home of the Seddiqi family (Dubai's luxury watch dealers), the property was revamped a few years back by Mona Hauser along with her artist and designer friends. Interconnecting rooms display artworks by local and Middle Eastern artists, while two courtyards contain sculptures by resident artist, Halim Al Karim. Even if you're not staying, XVA Art Hotel is a great place to unwind in the shade midday, or a relaxing candle-lit al-fresco evening amongst the 100 year old barjeel towers. Their café serves tasty vegetarian dishes, often with a Middle Eastern influence, and on occasion there are exhibition openings, film screenings and musical performances to attend.
