The words chocolate-box spring to mind when you enter this pretty café/bistro; it’s a cross between Wes Anderson movie glamour, French culinary flare and (the romanticism of) British colonialism. Masterful pastries drawing on classical Parisian techniques enhanced by the Galvin brothers’ expertise and love of French cooking along with Mediteranean flavours, all merge together to provide an honest presentation of flavourful dishes and charming service. Macaroons and viennoiseries are baked fresh, in-house, each day, all to be complemented with a wide selection of expertly sourced teas, along with refreshing juice concoctions and tempting breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner menus of rich and fanciful favourites. Their exquisite shortcrust pastry falls short of nothing and their chocolate fondant and macaroons are some of the best we’ve tasted.
CP Tip: Don’t forget to explore upstairs with its ‘tea library’ and beautiful painted ceiling, along with terrace seating overlooking the fountain square.
